Leadership Development Case Study

The Client

The client was the owner of a small business, leading a team of 11 people. Struggling with impostor syndrome, boundary-setting, and burnout, she found it challenging to address issues with her staff and constantly overworked herself. This overextension left her continually fatigued and impacted her confidence in her role as a leader.

The Challenge

She was always worried about the perception others had of her, leading her to overthink and be excessively apprehensive in her decision-making. Her inability to set boundaries and the constant sense of being a fraud intensified her burnout, impeded her leadership, and stunted her organization's growth.

SKYL’s Strategy

We embarked on a transformative journey with her, balancing personal and business goals in a structured timeline spanning a few months to over a year. Our process was multifaceted:

  1. Personalized One-on-One Coaching: We conducted weekly hour-long sessions focused on personal growth and leadership skills. These sessions were crucial in addressing immediate challenges and creating strategies to overcome them.
  2. In-depth Workshops and Practical Tools: The client was introduced to various workshops, each tailored to address specific issues like impostor syndrome and burnout. We also provided worksheets for her to work through in her own time, solidifying the learning and strategies discussed during our sessions.
  3. Regular Check-ins and Support: In addition to weekly coaching, we were accessible via text and email for ongoing support. This helped her navigate immediate challenges and ensured consistent progress.

Results

Over time, her confidence soared, and she successfully reduced her work hours. This allowed her to hire additional employees, furthering the growth of her team. Her decision-making and problem-solving skills improved significantly, and she started feeling more confident in her role as a leader.

Two and a half years later, our sessions evolved to 30-minute biweekly updates, developments, and queries. Her organization transformed into a well-orchestrated ensemble, functioning smoothly and efficiently under her effective leadership.
